Abstract
• In March 2022, 88 of Indonesia's 90 CPI Cities witnessed inflation, while just 2 saw deflation.
• The CPI in Tual City decreased by 0.27 percent, to 109.02, while the CPI in Ambon City increased by 0.48 percent, to 110.20.
• Kupang had the lowest inflation rate (0.09 percent) and Merauke had the highest (1.86 percent), both with a CPI of 109.13. The largest deflation, 0.27 percent, was recorded in Tual with a CPI of 109.02, and the lowest, 0.07 percent, was recorded in Kendari with a CPI of 108.63.
• In March 2022, Tual City had the 90th-highest monthly inflation rate in Indonesia (Ambon City was ranked 74th), the 90th-highest annual inflation rate (Ambon City was ranked 81st), and Tual City was ranked 82nd overall (Ambon City is ranked 28th).
• The drop in a number of price indices across a number of expenditure groups resulted in deflation. The transportation sector experienced the largest fall, at 1.4 percent and a CPI of 97.59.
• Of the 57 different items and services that go through price changes, the majority are food, drinks, and tobacco. Prices dropped for 26 different goods and services, including baronang fish, air travel, laying fish/momar, tuna/komu fish, red snapper, broiler eggs, mackerel, green mustard, cucumber, and tea as the goods that most significantly contributed to the deflation that happened this month in Tual City.
• In the meantime, 31 different items and services saw price hikes in March 2022, with kale, cayenne pepper, cassava leaves, shallots, cooking oil, spinach, broiled chicken, papaya, eggplant, and fish seeing the biggest rises.
