◼ In May 2023, Tual City experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 5.59 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 118.55, while Ambon City experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 5.03 percent with a CPI of 117. 38.◼ Of the 90 CPI cities, the city with the highest yoy inflation was Kotabaru City, which was 6.04 percent with a CPI of 121.8 and the lowest yoy inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City, which was 1.93 percent with a CPI of 114.16.
◼ Inflation in Tual City occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in most of the expenditure group indices. The increase in prices was indicated by an increase in 8 expenditure groups, the highest yoy inflation was in the Food and Beverage/Restaurant Supply group of 23.15 percent and the lowest was in the Clothing and Footwear expenditure group of 0.76 percent. Meanwhile, 3 expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely the Health group by 1.28 percent, the Information, Communication and Financial Services Expenditure Group by 0.98 percent, and the Education Expenditure Group by 0.05 percent.
◼ Month to month (MTM) inflation rate (May 2023 to April 2023) Tual City experienced inflation of 0.69 percent. Meanwhile, Ambon City experienced an inflation of 0.86 percent.
◼ Year to date (YTD) inflation rate (May 2023 to December 2022) Tual City experienced inflation of 2.79 percent. Meanwhile, Ambon City experienced inflation of 0.49 percent.
◼ 5 (five) dominant commodities contributed to inflation yoy May 2023 in Tual City, namely: Air Transportation (1.4982%), Rice (0.647%), Gasoline (0.6482%), Rice with Side Dishes (0.6134) %), Filter Clove Cigarettes (0.3543%).
◼ While the 5 (five) dominant commodities contributed to mtm inflation in May 2023 in Tual City, namely: Rice (0.1256%), Flying Fish/Benggol Fish (0.1248%), Air Transportation (0.1218%), Cayenne Pepper (0.0827%), Red Snapper (0.0357%).
