Abstract

• In May 2022, 87 of Indonesia's 90 CPI Cities witnessed inflation, while just 3 saw deflation.
• The CPIs in Tual City and Ambon City were 112.27 and 111.76, respectively, with inflation rates of 1.22 and 0.69 percent.
• Tanjung Pandan had the most inflation, at 2.24 percent, with a CPI of 116.00, while Tangerang and Gunungsitoli had the lowest, at 0.05 percent and 110.63 and 109.73, respectively. Merauke had the lowest deflation at 0.02 percent and a CPI of 109.92, while Kotamobagu had the highest at 0.21 percent and a CPI of 111.25.
• Tual City, one of 90 HK Cities in Indonesia, was 83rd in terms of monthly inflation in May 2022 (Ambon City was ranked 78th), 83rd in terms of calendar-year inflation, and 9th overall (Ambon City is ranked 3rd).
• The rise in a number of price indices across a number of expenditure categories is what caused inflation. The transportation sector saw the largest gain, 5.59 percent, with a CPI of 106.95.
• Price adjustments occur for 100 different products and services, with food, drink, and tobacco making up the majority of these changes. 71 different types of goods and services saw price increases, with air travel, flying fish/momar, clothing, water spinach, anchovies, broiler eggs, red snapper, cost of mobile phone credit, mackerel/lema fish, and rice with side dishes experiencing the highest increases. These goods were also the ones that contributed most to the inflation that occurred this month in Tual City.
• In May 2022, prices fell for 29 different commodities and services, with cayenne pepper, spinach, eggplant, tuna/komu fish, selar fish/kawalinya/palala, papaya flowers, long beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, and red chilies seeing the biggest drops.
