Abstract
◼ Tual City's year-over-year (yoy) inflation rate in December 2022 was 4.52 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.33. Ambon City, on the other hand, saw yoy inflation of 6.39 percent with a CPI of 116.81.
◼ The city with the highest year-over-year inflation among the 90 CPI cities was Kotabaru, where it was 8.65 percent with a CPI of 119.83, and the lowest was Sorong, where it was 3.26 percent with a CPI of 110.95.
◼ Increases in the majority of the expenditure group indices show that inflation was caused by price increases. The increase in 10 spending groups, with the Food and Beverage Provider/Restaurant group having the highest increase of 17.96 percent and the Information, Communication, and Financial Services expenditure group having the lowest increase of 0.08 percent, suggested a price increase. While one category of spending, the Health category, saw deflation of 1.83 percent.
◼ Tual City saw inflation of 0.81 percent from December 2022 to November 2022, or month-to-month (MTM) inflation rate. Ambon City is 0.55 percent, in contrast.
◼ The year-to-date (YTD) inflation rate for Tual City was 4.52 percent (December 2022 to December 2021). Ambon City has a 6.39 percent rate in contrast.
◼ In Tual City, there are 5 (five) main goods that will drive inflation year over year in December 2022: Enbal Gepe (0.3011%), Gasoline (0.6162%), Anchovies (0.4321%), Rice with Side Dishes (0.4312%), and Air Transportation (0.726%).
◼ While the five (five) leading commodities—flying fish/benggol fish (0.1284%), scallions (0.0777%), kale (0.0587%), mackerel/bloated fish/banyar fish/gembolo fish/aso-aso fish (0.0577%), and sea transportation (0.0563%)—contributed to December 2022 mtm inflation in Tual City.
